Online Surveys from Younger Voice

Younger Voice and Intuitive Media regularly conduct online surveys with samples of over 1,000 children aged 6 to 14, drawn from an authenticated population of 160,000 children across the UK, who are members of Intuitive Media’s protected online learning communities. (See here for details of The Children) These children are willing and able research participants. They are highly motivated and generally take the time and care to give thoughtful and reliable responses. They are also 'digital natives', a very interesting group who are spending less time watching television, but more and more time online.

You can now embed your research tools inside the communities and receive a data stream from responses direct to your servers. Profiling data from the respondents will be attached automatically, although you will receive no personal information that would allow the identification of the respondent.

What can we ask?
So long as it’s in the interests of the children, you can ask what you like. For example, past surveys have included the following:

My Future - how do children see their future lives, homes, family, career
My Music - what music do kids listen to? Where and how do they listen? Where do they buy it?
My Mobile - children and their mobiles: ownership, frequency of use, downloads, safety?
My World - what really matters to children: home, family, friends and the wide world, attitudes to poverty, fair trade, climate change.

Possible future surveys might include:

My Health - children's understanding, attitudes, behaviour related to their health?

Parent Know How - what do parents want to know about kids but are afraid to ask?
My Sport - children's sport and exercise: at home, school, playing out, going to clubs. What do they do? What they think? 

My Pets - what pets do children have, how do they care for them?
My Food, My Fruit & Veg, My Sweet Tooth - children’s eating habits, advertising and influences on their diets and buying habits what brands are they aware of, what are their attitudes to sweets?

My Ideas - how children get and pursue their creative ideas. My Memory - what do kids remember - how far back? My Mind / My Body - children's awareness and empathy for mental and physical differences and disabilities? Respect - what does respect mean to children?

My Safety -  how children think about and deal with risk - on the web and on the street.

My Voice - giving children a voice -  what do they care about, what do they want to say to adults, schools, government?
My Protection - children's attitudes to the police, what do the police do, why are they important to you?

My Science - children's understanding of how science contributes in their lives?
My Green Life - children and green issues: attitudes to climate change, carbon footprints, 4x4s, air travel, recycling etc.

My Technology - to what technology do children have access at home, at school? What do they do with it? My Camera / My Photos - how, when, where do kids use digital cameras?

My Travel - how do children get around day to day, travel to school etc.? My Wings - kids and flying? My Holidays - where do children go, what do they do?

My Games - what computer games do children play, how frequently, who with, what do they learn, what types of new games do they want?
My Community - how children live in the community - mapping family, friends, neighbourhood, school, clubs & online communities?

My Money My Life - children's pocket money -  what do they get, what do they spend it on?
My London / My City - what I like about my village, town or city, what I want to change and how?
My Business - children’s attitudes to business and enterprise. What are their ambitions, influencers (The Apprentice, Dragons' Den?)

My New School - children's first days in secondary school:  their dreams, hopes and fears - homework, getting lost, bullying.
My Clothes, Shoes - what clothes, shoes etc. do children wear and like, who chooses them, what is their brand awareness?
